Teaching Localisation for Global Business Readiness | Registration open

The Lessius University College and the LISA (Localization Industry Standards Association) announce their collaboration with the LISA-Lessius Forum, being held in Antwerp on December 10-12, 2007. As a valued partner and colleague, we invite you to participate in this important conference and workshop series.

The Forum is the primary source where you can find globalization and localization business and academic data, best practices, and open standards for language technologies. With over seventeen years of industry leadership, LISA is the preeminent network of worldwide globalization professionals.

The Lessius University College is proud to be a collaborator of this world-class organization, and a member of the Program Committee of the LISA Lessius Forum.

This Forum aims at bringing together localization professionals from the academia and the industry to discuss the following topics:

  • Organization and mutual benefits of cooperation between academia and industry
  • The selection, design and distribution of training materials (translation memories, term databases, glossaries, websites, localization kits)
  • Teaching marketing aspects of localization in the context of today's globalization industry
  • The relation between teaching localization in a broad sense and in a more narrow, technologically motivated view addressing best practice and standards and why they are becoming increasingly important to education and industry
  • Constraints in the design of courses and curricula: target audience, time restrictions, trainer's experience, etc.
  • Teaching intralingual localization, in order to take account of linguistic and cultural divergences within areas speaking the same language
  • Professional Skills Workshops:

    • Teaching Localization (Methodologies, Curriculum, Tools and
      Technologies)
    • Introduction to the Globalization Industry and its Application to Academic Studies
    • How to Maximize the Use of Localization Industry Standards
    • Standards and Accreditation in the Language Industry

Join us at LISA's 60th international conference in Antwerp, to network with your peers to develop a greater understanding of international business requirements, and a clear vision of what the future of global business holds.
